2011-06-21 Howard Schwartz presents "So What's All the Fuss About Structured Authoring and DITA? The Basics, Career Benefits, ROI, and Best Practices for Adoption"
Have you been wondering what "structured content" (or "DITA") is? Why are companies talking about it and requiring technical communicators to have structured content job skills? Is DITA just for big companies and software projects? And is DITA coming to an office near you?
Bring yourself up to date Tuesday, June 20, and hear Howard Schwartz's introduction to why and how organizations are moving to the structured content. He will introduce Darwin Information Typing Architecture (DITA), which is the "flavor" of structured content that technical writers use. He will describe situations for which it is most appropriate, and how you can use it to help your employment.
In addition, he will demonstrate the potential Return on Investment (ROI) for DITA using different size companies, and yours in particular! Howard will also share emerging best practices for applying DITA in the workplace, such as role changes, thinking in structure, and collaboration. As a bonus, he will treat us to a demonstration of SDL's structured content technology suite.
